[Some buttons are pressed as Veola tries to figure out what this device in her pouch was. Somehow, she activated the video. She first looks at the screen strangely, wondering what it was doing. The slight constant shaking of the screen shows the nervousness she's been trying to keep to her self.]

"......"

[She soon figured it was pointless. It's not like she would talk to herself in the middle of nowhere, that would be silly. Her look soon turned to one of worry as she gave one last look at the device and looked around. The camera angle shifted along when she put the strange thing back in her pouch. From then on, the video just shows shifting movements in her pouch until it naturally timed out.]

You look a little lost. You okay over there?

...! Who? Where are you?

[Dreamberry's camera shifts in the pouch as she turns]

Look at your phone, the thing you were just looking at.

I'm talking to you through that.

oh.

[she picks up the phone and finally sees you through the screen]

What is this place?

It's a world called Somarium.

Sure there is. You're standin' in it, aren't you?

You expect me to believe that I was brought to another world, let alone one not found in the astral map, while I was asleep?

From: [identity profile] shivasentinel.livejournal.com
Pretty much. I have no reason to lie to you.

Date: 2010-07-09 02:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] atelier-veola.livejournal.com
I wouldn't be sure about that.

[Veola sighs, it's not like there was any other person to ask at the moment.]

Then there's no way for me to just walk back to where I came from if what you say is true. Is there any way back?

Date: 2010-07-11 04:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] shivasentinel.livejournal.com
Not that I know of. At least, no one I know has found one yet.
From: [identity profile] atelier-veola.livejournal.com
[ooc: and sorry for the multiple edits too orz]

I suppose it wouldn't be that easy...

Now, who are you and why are you in this machine I found?

[ She's been wondering about it for a while, but that train of thought was not quite as important as trying to go back home.

It's not like she believed he was a tiny person in the metal box. She saw herself in it last she checked, after all. She just can't figure out if the screen was more of a window or a portal. She wasn't that knowledgeable in magic, and this thing seemed impossible for technology alone.]

Name's Snow Villiers. And I'm not in it, I'm just talking to you through it.

No, I mean why are you...[How should she describe it without sounding stupid? being linked to the thing?] connected to this "phone" I found? Did you plant it on me to contact me like this?

[She thinks the dreamberry is like tin can phones, and only Snow is connected to hers.]

[Even for an accidental feed, that was quick.] Are you new?

No, I didn't agree to do anything like this. I just woke up here.

[That might as well as be a 'yes'. He nods, and lowers his head a bit.] You can't agree to something that you don't know about. We all arrive here like this, I believe. My name is Minato; what's yours?

I'm Veola.

Everyone? So no one knows how they got here?

From: [identity profile] carpo-vita.livejournal.com
It's nice to meet you, Veola-san. [He nods politely, even if it's just to the screen.]

A few months ago, yes. The natives have appeared since, but it's easy to tell the difference, because they will openly admit to have lived here all their lives, and conversations never go very far if you try.

This world is called Somarium, and we all arrived under an unconscious state. Unfortunately, no one comes and leaves out of their own free will, so once we are here, no one would know when they can return home. On the other hand, however, us being here doesn't change anything from our home world; it would be as if time has stopped there, so nothing should have changed once you do return. ...That's the basics.

That's the second time I heard of this being another world, but it still sounds too surreal.

How long does it usually take before they somehow leave?

Date: 2010-07-09 10:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] carpo-vita.livejournal.com
That's understandable; I was like this too. So the best that we can do now is live on here, with what we have.

That depends, and I think it's impossible to tell. Some leave after a month or two, others have stayed for over a year.

[She's still wary, but at least understands there's no use asking for a way out right now. She remembered how she had nothing but the Dreamberry. That's going to be a problem.]

Where do new people go for necessities and housing? I came here empty-handed.

Date: 2010-07-09 10:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] carpo-vita.livejournal.com
Yes. I know several people who have been here for over a year, and I've been here for almost six months now, myself.

[He nods at that. Let's see, how to explain this clearly...] There is a map of Somarium within your Dreamberry. It's easy to find: press the Menu key, and you will see the icon labeled as so somewhere on the screen. It can also tell you where you are and list other buildings, like shops and service departments, so it's very handy. There are several empty cottages in Espoir, the village that's at the center of Somni, the city, and you should be able to find lodging there for free. [...Call it a hunch, but judging by her clothing, suggesting a cottage in the village would probably be better than an apartment in the city.] As for necessities, there are various shops around Somni, though the best place to stock up would be the Shopping District, which would be northwest of Espoir. You should also have a card on you: there are credits stored on it, and that's what's accepted as currency here. By inserting it into the slot on your Dreamberry, you will see how much you have. We start off with an amount large enough to live easily for some time, though getting a job isn't hard too.

[She nods along as he talks, taking it all in. Free lodging? If what she learned about this new setting is true, she shouldn't assume the laws she knows apply here too. She'll have to see if it's as he says later.]

...Thank you. You've been helpful.

[She's still troubled by the mystery of how she got here, but she'll set it aside for now.]

From: [identity profile] carpo-vita.livejournal.com
[He's usually not that talkative, but figures that a crash course of Somarium is something that no newcomer should be denied of.]

You're welcome. Would you have any other questions? [There's nothing reassuring that he can say to her, so shedding more light on how things work here would be the best that he can offer.]

[Nothing she can think of at the moment, no. Was there more she needed to know?]

Was there anything I should watch out for?

Date: 2010-07-13 09:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] carpo-vita.livejournal.com
[...Hm.]

The desert outside of the city is dangerous, so it would be best to avoid that. The floating mountain isn't, however. There is also a police station in the government district that overlooks the safety and well-being of everyone, so if anything comes up, please don't hesitate to contact them.

A land that's populated by enough mana to make it float like that. That's rare.

[A police force. She doubts she'll ever need to call on them, but keeps it in mind anyway. Well, that sounds about it for what she needs to know about settling in a normal unknown land.]

Thank you, Minato. This is more than enough information. I can manage myself from here on.

...I'm not sure if that's it, honestly. A lot of things here can be considered strange, no matter where you're from.

You're welcome, Veola-san. There is still a lot of things in Somarium that's a mystery to everyone, but if you'd like to ask about anything else, I'll try my best to answer.
